A vacation clerkship is the perfect way to learn about working at Clifford Chance and meet our people.

We recruit students that we believe have the potential and ambition to join us once their degrees are completed.

The clerkship program allows you to follow the life of a lawyer at Clifford Chance closely - you will sit with the team, working with our lawyers on real, live client projects. You will be treated as a part of our team and given opportunities to demonstrate your ability.

To ensure you get the most from your program we will assign you a mentor - an experienced lawyer who will help you settle in and answer any questions you have.

Across the 4-week program we will also host sessions from professionals across the firm to give you a real insight into how our firm works. You will be given the opportunity to interact with team members from around the global network and get to see what life is really like for a Clifford Chance lawyer.

We are also delighted to confirm that (subject to any covid regulations in place at the time) we will be offering our summer clerks a short trip to our Sydney office to see the firm's network for yourself and meet more of our Sydney colleagues.

      Equal Opportunities

At Clifford Chance we understand that our true asset is our people. Inclusion is good for our team and their families, our firm and society.

We are committed to treating all employees and applicants fairly and equally regardless of their gender, gender identity and expression, marital or civil partnership status, race, colour, national or ethnic origin, social or economic background, disability, religious belief, sexual orientation, or age.  This applies to recruitment and selection, terms and conditions of employment including pay, promotion, training, transfer and every other aspect of employment.

Our goal is to deliver an equality of opportunity, an equality of aspiration and an equality of experience to everyone who works in our firm.

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate your potential to become a first-class lawyer and your willingness to take advantage of the many opportunities that you encounter.

You will need to exhibit ambition, drive and commitment, the ability to articulate your ideas clearly, and the desire to build relationships and deliver outstanding service.

We're also looking for business awareness, a keen commercial insight and a strong ability to lead and manage.

In addition to these attributes we ask that applicants have a consistently strong academic record.

Our Summer Clerkship Program will run from Monday, 28 November 2022 until Friday, 23 December 2022. Successful candidates will automatically be considered for our 2024 Graduate program.

As a part of your application, please submit an up-to-date academic transcript, curriculum vitae and cover letter.

Applications will close on Sunday 7 August 2022

I really enjoyed my CC clerkship as I felt I got to really experience the firm and what it would be like to work there. Everyone was very honest and open about their experiences and happy to share their time to speak with me about any questions I had.

I was attracted to CC due to my interest in international law, and especially the significant role that a firm like CC can have in facilitating deals and disputes across some of the largest jurisdictions in the world.
