A fresh set of eyes can always add a valuable and different perspective to a team.

What's your job about?

I work on the Data and Analytics team as a business analyst. My role connects with all different workstreams within the company that require data analysis, reporting and insights. I look at data that comes in from a range of different projects and help to visualise it so we can understand it better and make better business decisions with it.

What’s your background?

I have a wide range of experience in terms of my educational background. I received a Bachelor of Business degree majoring in marketing at the Swinburne University of Technology and shortly afterwards started my own small business making vegan cheese. I then moved on to study a certificate in Data Analytics with General Assembly, which ultimately leads me to my position here with Genpact where I have been learning and growing at an exponential rate for the last 5 weeks.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Someone with a different background could absolutely do my job. My colleagues come from a wide range of backgrounds and I am a non-traditional hire myself. A fresh set of eyes can always add a valuable and different perspective to a team.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

I have access to a diverse range of tools for handling and visualising data. I have been able to great get down into the granular concepts and understanding of how data is handled and the issues that can arise from how it is handled. I’ve learned the theories about this but actually been able to see how it is applied in real life has been invaluable and one of the coolest aspects of my job so far.

What are the limitations of your job?

Due to the multinational aspect of the company, there are meetings that can occur later in the evening. Time zone challenges are the greatest limitation to this job.

3 pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student...

  2. Nurture your curiosity, find the topics that make you want to ask why and explore them in-depth.
