A Different Mindset

At KordaMentha, we’re known for doing things differently. And we’re known for coming up with bold new ways to help clients solve their most complex commercial problems.

We help clients throughout their lifecycle. We help them grow and maximise value. We help protect them against financial loss and reputational damage. And we help them recover value in tough times.

We’re a team of almost 400 specialists across Asia Pacific with diverse backgrounds – in finance and real estate through to agriculture, law enforcement and the c-suite. Specialists who work together to solve the complex challenges facing corporations, financiers, lawyers, private investors and government.

Since 2002, our experts have been entrusted with many of the region’s most sensitive commercial situations. On each occasion, they have responded with a bold, impactful solution that delivers more – more growth, more certainty, and more value for all involved.

Different Opportunity

Each year, we recruit a select group of switched-on, well‑rounded graduates or students in the final year of their degree for our award-winning graduate program. We also look for students in their penultimate year for four or eight week work placements through our vacationer program, which runs during the summer university break.

Rather than run a rotational program, we recruit graduates and vacationers directly into one of our specialist areas below based on their interests, skills and field of study.

Real estate
Our specialist real estate advisory group help clients to grow, protect and recover value in their real estate portfolios. They advise on, develop and transact real estate – their own, their clients and in conjunction with joint venture partners. With a unique set of real estate consulting and insolvency capabilities, they have advised upon or transacted over $14 billion in real estate projects. Within our real estate group, you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of property assets and will learn advanced property fundamentals from a passionate team with backgrounds in property development, valuations, sales and marketing, property law, contract administration, funds management and investment banking.

Forensic
Our forensic group uncover, analyse and clarify facts at the centre of disputes, investigations and other sensitive matters. They are one of the largest teams of forensic investigators, forensic accountants and forensic technology specialists in Asia-Pacific and are regularly called on to provide evidence in sensitive, high-profile disputes and investigations. With services including dispute analysis, data analytics, investigations, corruption and fraud risk management, you’ll have the opportunity to work with the sharpest forensic minds across a number of diverse areas.

Restructuring
Our restructuring group works with companies in financial distress – to restructure and to stabilise the business or to recover value on behalf of stakeholders. Within our restructuring group, you’ll work in creative project teams to manage Australia’s largest and most complex corporate restructures, receiverships, administrations and liquidations.

Forensic technology
Our forensic technology group help to identify, preserve, analyse and present electronic evidence to assist in investigations and disputes. Whether it be personal computers, computer servers or even mobile phones, they identify the facts in a fast, efficient manner. Within our forensic technology group, you’ll work as part of a diverse team and will learn the specialist skills and methodologies to become an expert in digital forensic and forensic discovery.

When you join us as a graduate or vacationer, you immediately become part of a unique, creative and entrepreneurial team that work together to solve complex business problems. You’ll work in a supportive environment where you’re encouraged to ask ‘what if...?’ and ‘why not...?’ to find new ways to help clients grow, protect and recover value. And you’ll get to work with and learn from a great mix of people with diverse backgrounds while we invest in your study and training.

But it’s not all about work. We host regular events and sporting activities, bringing together our close-knit team in a friendly and relaxed environment so you can get to know the people behind the professionals. You’ll also be encouraged and supported to make a positive difference in your community through regular charity and industry events.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • The best thing about working at KordaMentha is the collaborative nature of the work. It's a supportive workplace that allows you to form both personal and professional relationships with your colleagues. The collaborative nature of the work is not limited to individual service lines, with some engagements requiring collaboration from various service lines. In addition to the above, KordaMentha provides a supportive workplace that facilitates career progression.
  • I enjoy the type of work and forms of engagement I get to work on. I also enjoy the work environment - everyone is very open and including, and the teams are always cooperative and overall a good experience.
  • The exposure to different industries and variety of work. From the minute you begin, you are given the opportunity to learn different aspects of an engagement and encouraged to take ownership of certain tasks or sub-projects. Everyone is welcoming and willing to take the time to help you.
  • Great corporate culture. Opportunities for career development. High level of collaboration with work. Unity through the team (e.g. business analysts discuss ideas with partners, not having to go through a middle man).
  • Great team, nice office space, leadership always make an effort for you.
  • Culture - mutual respect regardless of whether you're junior, senior, or very senior.
  • Can be long hours when working onsite.
  • The occasional long hours, but even then, the work is interesting so I don't really mind it. Hard to see any minuses at all.
  • There are certain tasks which are required which are more administrative and therefore less interesting. But these are still worthwhile business skills to learn and only a small part of our work.
  • Workload inconsistency.
  • Difficult conversations with external stakeholders
  • The nature of the work is often negative, just given you are largely dealing with people who have suffered losses.

The best thing about my job is the variety of work – even if it is the same task you’ve done 100 times, you always have to adapt it to the current client/project and therefore always critically think.
