I think by and large the training is well planned, thorough and purposeful. The Graduate program is fantastic and I couldn't speak highly enough of it. I find some elements of the training tedious and drawn out however, by and large it is pretty good.

We did a few hours of online learning modules which were interactive - and that made them a bit easier to get through. You learn a lot more by actually doing things though. We also got to fly to Sydney to do "grad camp" which was a few days of training and socialising! We get mentored by and buddied up with other team members too which is very valuable.

Mostly irrelevant as all tailored to restructuring rather than deals

GDP (Graduate Development Program ) training to assist with communication skills, office procedures and navigating the website, along with business writing and roll-playing. Buddy program was helpful for more specific tasks and day-to-day learning. During busy periods it became slightly more difficult to reach out as everyone was pre-occupied.

I was flown interstate to meet graduates from other offices on two occasions. These trips resulted in returning with lots of gained confidence and valuable knowledge. In addition to this formal training, we regularly have restructuring specific training from ARITA (Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association), which is great to give more context to my work. My colleagues in the office are always more than happy to chat about a technical aspects of the job which boosted my learning significantly too.

As a graduate we have a formal Graduate Development Program which involves two 'grad camps'. The ?rst was in Sydney for a week and the second in Melbourne for half a week. Both of these are great for helping develop soft skills, get a deeper understanding of the ?rm and its capabilities and getting to know your grad cohort. The Deals, Strategy and Performance team has introduced formal modelling training this year for Senior Analysts and above, and is introducing formal due diligence training sessions this month. In my role my primary skills relate to excel and ?nancial analysis. I have also picked up a lot of research skills and deck building skills for reports and presentations.

The firm has an online training site which can be accessed at any time, with several modules regarding the firm's internal systems being mandatory within the ?rst few weeks of starting the job. There are also training events organised by the Learning and Development team throughout the year on various topics as they become relevant, and my own o?ce holds Tips and Tricks sessions monthly on speci?c topics such as report writing which you may attend. Learning and Development also holds two events annually known as 'Grad Camp' wherein all the graduates for the year from around the country are ?own to one city for around a week to attend intensive training sessions, as well as socialising with each other and the local o?ce
