Management at REA Group

8.3
8.3 rating for Management, based on 16 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
Handled COVID well with clear communication Can sometimes be slow to deal with poor performance but that's the rare exception to great management

Very satisfied with the way REA sets up Rotation Leads and Mentors throughout the design program. Weekly one on one sessions, constant feedback and check ins and managers even publicly call out good work from a grad in larger meetings and forums for better exposure around the company. Lots of assessment (in a good way) around where to focus in terms of development.

Direct managers during the grad program are typically really good - they tend to work closely with you and are well positioned to help you learn and work effectively. There are occasionally managers assigned who are more distant, and graduates in that position typically have a worse time. Management of the grad program itself is the responsibility of a different group of people, and tends not to be particularly well organised. There is also a tendency to ignore feedback on the program, and a general lack of empathy has been a running theme throughout my time as a graduate.

Transparent communication and honest feedback.

Yeah, we hear from management a lot about direction and it's fairly transparent.

Managers at REA Group are very accessible. Your manager will organise weekly or fortnightly catchups with you to check in and see how you're doing. They encourage you to use this time however you'd like. We also have 2 check-ins a year in terms of our performance where we chat very casually about how we're going, where we might need to improve or if it's time for a promotion.

We have coffee roulette in our company, where you get chance to catch up with others

Very easy to talk to, easy to discuss my progress and ask for feedback. I have a full mentorship framework with mentors on multiple levels.

over the rotation you join 3 teams. The managers of each of these teams were very good. however the managers of the graduate program were a little underwhelming, alot of the time grad social events seemed mismanaged or disappointing, (maybe due to covid) and overall we didn't have much to do with them or much directly face-to-face contact.

REA insists on the grads having both technical mentors and non technical mentors to lead us through the program

Lower level managers are excellent, they are very accessible and provide positive feedback and good at recognition. Higher up becomes less clear

Some managers are good, some are ok. I am happy with my one.
