What does Worley do?

Worley New Zealand is a leading provider of engineering, advisory, procurement and construction services for some of New Zealand’s largest organisations.

Our range of services includes delivery of complex projects, from concept development, design and construction, through to operation, maintenance and decommissioning of assets. Worley delivers these services in a rapidly changing global energy system and offers the opportunity for graduates to be part of delivering solutions for a lower carbon world.

In New Zealand we operate across sectors such as energy, infrastructure, chemicals and food and beverage, our projects can range in size from a few thousand dollars to over $100 million. We work on over 1,000 projects for 100 different clients at any one time.

The Graduate Development Program in New Zealand

As a graduate, you will play an integral part in the full project lifecycle from design to construction. This provides site experience and illustrates the practical application of your technical design work. Our structured Graduate Development Program will further your technical, interpersonal and commercial skills, providing you with the confidence and freedom to lead projects. Worley has a global presence with 60,000 people in over 50 countries providing you with opportunities to be involved in international projects as your career develops. Graduates can also join international teams and seize the opportunity to travel the world.

The program in New Zealand creates a social atmosphere where you will be surrounded by likeminded young professionals who enjoy all that Worley has to offer. Our graduates are generally recruited from engineering and science backgrounds. Multi-disciplinary backgrounds are also of increasing interest. Worley leaders recognise the development needs of our graduates and how they contribute to the future wellbeing of the company and our customers. Our philosophy is that the people we employ are best placed to determine their own career development, and with our support, will have the drive and creativity to be successful in their learning and development activities.

Recruitment Process

  1. Apply to our graduate applications which open in May.
  2. Complete a phone interview.
  3. Prepare for an online (cameras on!) or a face-to-face interview.
  4. Pre-employment checks.
  5. Be offered a position and get ready to start the February after you have finished University.

Be yourself in the interviews and don’t stress! It is more than often better to be relaxed, but engaging and confident in interviews to show all your bright sides clearly to us. Worley are looking for people who are driven, eager to learn new things and great at communicating.

Remuneration & Career Growth

We understand that it may be daunting to be introduced to a whole different world when you have graduated from university, so our graduate program will kit you up with all the knowledge you need! There will be presentations, discussions, activities to help you get to know not just the technical side of Worley but understand how a company functions and its impact on society.

It’s hard to pick just one aspect of my job that is the ‘coolest’ as the environment is so varied, however, the one consistent factor is the people.
