Naman Jain

Today, I begin working on the second entity for FS. This involves reviewing the scope of the review and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) policy so I can prepare the Request for Information (RFI) list and agenda for the walkthrough.

7.00 AM – Wake up

I usually tend to wake up before my alarm goes off! I set up my playlist for shower and then I quickly get ready to leave for work. The bus stop is close to home and only takes about 15 minutes to reach the office. On my way to the office, I quickly go through an Australian financial newsletter which gives a good summary of major headlines.

8.15 AM – Arrive at work

I arrive at work, and I begin my day by checking my emails and calendar to see if I have any training or meetings for the day. I also update my workflow and prepare a list of tasks for the day.

8.45 AM – Coffee break

Slowly the team starts coming in and It’s time for a coffee! I message two of my friends, Josh and Andrew, and we head downstairs to the café for a much-needed hot coffee. Today is sunny and its freezing so we head back upstairs to the kitchen to talk about the weekend and anything interesting that will be happening throughout the week.

9.30 AM – Financial Services (FS) Team meeting

Since it's Monday, I have our weekly team meeting for two sectors that I am currently working on.

First one is with FS Team and is attended by our colleagues from Sydney and Melbourne Team. We usually discuss the new wins, learning outcomes from previous reviews, and risk dimensions to look at for future reviews.

10.00 AM – Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Team meeting

Second, I have an ESG Team catchup which is also attended by Sydney and Melbourne Team. In this team meeting we specifically go through the clients we are currently working on and determine what work we need to prioritise for the week.

10.45 AM – Desk time

Currently, I am preparing the Pre-Issuance Verification Checklist (verification checklist) for our ESG client. Today, I begin working on the second entity for FS. This involves reviewing the scope of the review and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) policy so I can prepare the Request for Information (RFI) list and agenda for the walkthrough. During this process, I also need to prepare a test plan and test steps for review by my manager.

12.15 PM – Lunch

Finally, it is time for lunch! I drop a text to our Sydney’s graduate consultant group if anyone wants to join Josh, Andrew, and I for lunch at the Australian Square. Most of the time we go to Hunter Connection to bring the lunch back to our awesome kitchen area and when it is sunny, we go to eat outside. I am the happiest person when I get to take a new employee for free lunch which is paid for by RSM.

1.15 PM – Continue working

I am back at my desk and I have a phone call with one of our US Office colleagues to discuss the walkthrough agenda questions and review RFI list which I prepared in the morning. After our phone call, I start finishing my verification checklist work paper from this morning so that I can send it across to the Manager for her review. If I have any queries, I will draft an email with a list, and send it to my manager, Araceli.

3.00 PM – Ad-hoc task

This afternoon I am also working collaboratively with another Graduate Andrew on a migration of a Risk Maturity Assessment for Public Sector client. The Risk Maturity Assessment for this client was completed on an old maturity assessment and the government has released a new version of it so we are working to migrate the rating accordingly and send it across to our Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for his review.

5.30 PM – End of day

I’ve finalised RFI for FS Client and is ready to be sent across and hopefully the client starts uploading the relevant documents. I have also gone through Verification checklist for ESG Client and have requested for further documents to complete the test.

We have organised a meeting for tomorrow morning with the SME to discuss a bunch of migration issues.

Now, I take a few minutes to complete my timesheet and start saying goodbye to everyone and head towards the Elizabeth Street bus stop to go home.
