Within the Graduate Program you will enjoy rotations across multiple teams, allowing you to develop various advisory and technical capabilities, whilst building strong networks throughout the organisation. These teams include: 

  • Actuarial Reserving 
  • Digital Business 
  • Group Actuarial 
  • Insurance Pricing 

IAG’s Actuarial and Analytics community includes actuaries, mathematicians, statisticians, data scientists, climate scientists and engineers. The members of the community work in multiple teams across Australia and New Zealand. 

As an IAG Actuarial and Analytics graduate, you will support business leaders in the delivery of high-quality advice. This is achieved through analysis of data to provide insights, leveraging mathematical algorithms from linear modelling to machine learning and other advanced analytics. 

Actuarial and analytics community teams

Actuarial Reserving, with teams in Australia and New Zealand, provides recommendations and advice on the statutory liabilities, as well as insights into the performance of the business. 

Digital Business uses the latest in machine learning and data science techniques to predict customer, claims and operational outcomes, in order to create a seamless, personalised customer experience and enable data-driven decisioning at scale. 

Group Actuarial, led by the Chief Actuary, advises the Board, Executive and Senior Business Leaders across Australia and New Zealand in understanding the uncertainty associated with the Group’s material risks and provides pragmatic advice on optimising its enterprise value. 

Insurance Pricing, supporting a wide range of personal and commercial insurance products within each of our Direct and Intermediated divisions, are responsible for devising pricing strategies; modelling claims, risks and other unknowns; determining and implementing optimal pricing and related initiatives; and monitoring the impact of our actions on performance.

Requirements

  • A university degree or higher (from 2022-2024) or be in your penultimate year of university with graduation expected by the end of 2024 - Actuarial, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Finance, Engineering disciplines.  
  • An average credit achievement (65%+), and  
  • Are an Australian and/or New Zealand citizen or Australian and/or New Zealand permanent resident.
